Під час зустрічі Вселенського патріарха Варфоломія і руського патріарха Кирила в Стамбулі стався курйозний випадок.

Як повідомляє на своїй сторінці у Facebook Українська помісна православна церква, коли один зі співробітників служби безпеки делегації Кирила почав пропонувати напої, він спочатку звернувся до російського патріарха, і коли той простягнув руку, щоб взяти одну зі склянок з підноса, інший охоронець кинувся направляти руку Кирила до конкретного келиху, допомагаючи патріарху зробити "правильний вибір".

Реакція патріарха Варфоломія на цю плутанину була досить стриманою, але недвозначною: чітким жестом він відмовився від запропонованого напою, як і всі інші священнослужителі з Вселенського Патріархату, які були присутні в кімнаті. Варфоломій чітким жестом відмовився від запропонованого напою
