Назвати новий вид на честь Трампа вчених підштовхнуло схожість світло-жовтих лусочок на голові молі зі знаменитою зачіскою відомого політика.
Ареал проживання молі простягається від південної частини штату Каліфорнія до штату Нижня Каліфорнія в Мексиці. Варто зазначити, що стіна, яку Трамп пропонував звести між двома країнами, розділила б ареал проживання навпіл.
Новий вид молі був виявлений біологом Вазиріком Назарі з Канади під час відвідування музею ентомології в Каліфорнії.
"Завдяки характерному забарвленню її крил і особливостям ДНК міль одразу віднесли до ще не описаного виду", - пояснив вчений.
