Інцидент стався на раді при Міністерстві праці та зайнятості в Білому домі, де Тім Кук представляв програму Everyone Can Code («Будь-хто може програмувати»). Кук виступав із доповіддю щодо впровадження цієї програми в освітню систему.

«Ви справді робите великий внесок у розвиток нашої країни. Ми дуже це цінуємо, Тім Еппл», — сказав Трамп.
