Репортер австралійського каналу Channel Nine Люк Брендем приїхав на пляж у Квінсленді заради сюжету про небезпечні умови для серфінгу. Раптом він побачив у хвилях людину, і метеорологічне зведення перетворилося на рятувальну операцію.

У прямому ефірі Брендем роздягнувся і кинувся людині на допомогу, але його спроба не увінчалася успіхом, пише Insider. Спочатку репортер вирішив, що допомагає потопаючому, але незабаром зрозумів, що це мертве тіло. Вибравшись на сушу, він продовжив репортаж із голим торсом.

Тіло, яке знайшов репортер, ідентифікували як 32-річного британця Джейка Джейкобса. Він пропав безвісти разом із 29-річною українкою, з якою проводив відпустку в Австралії. Незабаром тіло жінки знайшли на пляжі Куррава, і поліція зв'язалася з її найближчими родичами.
