Президент России Владимир Путин подписал указы о присвоении почетных наименований целому ряду частей российской армии. Соответствующие документы опубликованы на официальном портале правовой информации, сообщает РБК

В указах отмечается, что почетные наименования присвоены различным частям «в целях сохранения славных воинских исторических традиций, воспитания военнослужащих в духе преданности Отечеству и верности воинскому долгу».

Указы подписаны Путиным 30 июня 2018 года и уже вступили в силу. Таким образом, 6-й танковый полк российской армии отныне носит почетное наименование «гвардейский Львовский», 68-й танковый полк — «гвардейский Житомирско-Берлинский», 163-й танковый полк — «гвардейский Нежинский».

Названия украинских городов включены в почетные наименования полков в память об участии частей в освобождении этих городов в годы Великой Отечественной войны. В частности, почетное наименование «Житомирский» было присвоено 93-й отдельной танковой бригаде, на базе которой позднее был создан 68-й полк, «в ознаменование одержанной победы и отличие в боях за освобождение города Житомир». Приказ об этом подписал верховный главнокомандующий Иосиф Сталин 1 января 1944 года. После распада СССР 68-й полк был расформирован, но в 2017 году воссоздан.
