У Новій Зеландії стався землетрус магнітудою 5,6 бала, у цей час прем’єр-міністерка Джасінда Ардерн давала інтервю у прямому ефірі. Про це стало відомо з ефіру телеканалу.

Землетрус стався безпосередньо біля узбережжя о 8:00 ранку за місцевим часом (20:00 неділю за Гринвічем) на глибині близько 52 кілометрів (32 миль) біля Левіна, приблизно за 90 кілометрвів на північ від Веллінгтона, повідомляє Геологічна служба США.

Як відомо, повідомлень про травми або пошкодження наразі не надходило. Попереджень про цунамі не було.
Своєю чергою, Ардерн давала інтерв'ю з парламентської будівлі, яка спроектована для поглинання сейсмічних коливань, але її все таки трохи трясло і будівля погойдувалась на своєму фундаменті. 

У нас тут просто невеликий землетрус, Райан", - розповіла Ардерн ведучому програми "AM Show" Райану Бриджу, та недовго озиралась навколо себе. "Досить пристойно трясе тут, якщо ви бачите, що щось рухається позаду мене", - сказала вона, посміхаючись. "Це вже припинилося", - додала вона згодом.
