На днях руководство Twitter заявило, что номера телефонов и адреса почтовых ящиков их пользователей, которые использовались для двухфакторной аутентификации, случайно попали в руки компаний-рекламодателей, передает Новое время
Сообщается, что разработчики заметили это с помощью списка пользователей для рассылки таргетированной рекламы. Данные об этих пользователях совпадали с данными о пользователях Twitter. В компании пока не знают, как много пользователей могло пострадать.
Похожее произошло в прошлом году с Facebook, после чего Федеральная торговая комиссия оштрафовала компанию на $5 млрд.
Правда, в отличие от представителей Facebook, которые часто скрывают факт использования персональных данных пользователей для рекламы, руководство Twitter сразу же призналось в случившемся и извинилось перед аудиторией.
