Колишній мер Лондона Борис Джонсон в інтерв'ю газеті Sunday Telegraph порівняв цілі Європейського Союзу з планами фюрера Німеччини Адольфа Гітлера та імператора Франції Наполеона.
Джонсон сказав, що ні Гітлер, ні Наполеон не змогли об'єднати Європу, а Європейський союз - це спроба зробити те ж саме іншими методами.
"По суті справи все впирається в цю одвічну проблему того, що ідеї Європи не вистачає лояльності. Не існує єдиної влади, яку всі поважали і розуміли, і саме через це виникає цей зяючий демократичний вакуум", - сказав він.
Зазначимо, що Джонсон активно агітує за вихід Британії з ЄС.
Референдум про членство Британії в Євросоюзі призначено на 23 червня; виборцям буде запропоновано відповісти на питання: чи виходити Великій Британії зі складу ЄС, чи залишатися.
