Організатори Олімпійських ігор в Токіо відокремили кордоном півострів Крим від України.

Між материковою частиною України і Кримом зазначена межа, хоча за всіма міжнародними нормами Крим визнаний територією України, не дивлячись на окупацію Росією.

Офіційне відкриття Олімпійських ігор відбудеться 23 липня, але деякі змагання стартували 21 липня. Закриття ігор відбудеться 8 серпня.

Нагадаємо, що спочатку Олімпійські ігри мали відбутися в 2020 році. Втім, через пандемію коронавирусу турнір був перенесений на рік. При цьому Олімпіада зберегла приставку "2020" в маркетингових цілях.
