Мэр написала, что это сообщение "сделало ее день", но потом заявила, что имела в виду результаты выборов. 
Петиция за отставку чиновника собрала более 170 тысяч подписей.

Мишель Обаму назвала "обезьяной" председатель некоммерческой организации в округе Клэй Памела Рэмси Тейлор. 
"Как хорошо, что мы наконец получим в Белом доме стильную, красивую, величественную первую леди. Я устала видеть обезьяну на каблуках", - написала она в Facebook.

 

Она заявила местной радиостанции, что ее пост можно воспринять как расистский, но он "никоим образом таковым не задумывался". По словам Тейлор, она выразила свое личное мнение о привлекательности человека, а не о цвете ее кожи.

Город Клэй насчитывает 491 жителя. По данным переписи 2010 года, афроамериканцы там не живут, отмечает агентство.
