Суворе покарання Ідальго не засмутило: в Твіттері вона повідомила, що з радістю доставить штраф разом із жінками, з якими працює. Також 61-річна мер сказала, що хотіла б "просувати і одного разу досягти паритету" з чоловіками у всьому французькому уряді.

"В Парижі ми робимо все, щоб добитися успіху, і я дуже, дуже пишаюся великою командою жінок і чоловіків, які разом ведуть боротьбу за рівність, - сказала вона. - Тому нас буде багато".

З 2019 року французьке законодавство дозволило порушувати правило 40%, якщо нові співробітники "не призводять до загального гендерного дисбалансу". На жаль, цю зміну ввели занадто пізно, щоб Ідальго змогла уникнути штрафу.
