Мэр города Карбон-Хилл в штате Алабама, США Марк Чамберс в Facebook призвал убивать геев.

Об этом сообщает ВВС.

«Мы живем в обществе, где гомосексуалисты учат нас морали, трансвеститы — биологии человека, убийцы детей — прав человека, а социалисты — экономике», — написал Чамберс.

По его мнению, «единственный способ изменить это — убить проблему».

«Я знаю, что плохо так говорить, но без их убийства нет способа исправить ситуацию», — сказал мэр.

Позже пост был удален.

Заявление Чемберса стало причиной волны возмущения и призывов отправить его в отставку. Правозащитники назвали слова мэра «ужасными, бессовестными и неприемлемыми», поскольку представители ЛГБТ-сообщества сталкиваются с преследованиями и насилием, особенно в Алабаме.

Изначально Чамберс отрицал, что написал пост, однако потом заявил, что опубликовал его случайно, собираясь переслать сообщение в личной переписке.

Позже чиновник извинился, отметив, что его фразу вырвали из контекста. По словам Чемберса, пост не был нацелен на ЛГБТ-сообщество и он знает, что «неправильно говорить, что кто-то должен быть убит».
