Компанія Mars Inc. розробила автономного робота, який катається по магазину і нав'язливо пропонує покупцям різні солодощі.

Mars Inc. створила робота на прізвисько "Смайлик" (Smiley) який стежить за покупцями і пропонує їм закуски задовго до того, як вони дійдуть до каси. Робот схожий на автономну полицю, яка використовує різні датчики, включаючи LiDAR, для безпечного переміщення. "Смайлик" під'їжджає до потенційних покупців і пропонує їм шоколадні батончики, цукерки і жувальні гумки.

Зараз робот використовують в тестовому режимі в магазині ShopRite в місті Монро, штат Нью-Йорк. Для цього магазин  перебудували, зробивши проходи ширшими, щоб не ускладнювати переміщення "Смайлика".

Однак робот був створений не тільки для продажу солодощів. Він також збирає дані про взаємодію з клієнтами. За допомогою датчиків робот стежить за тим, як клієнти переміщуються по магазину і взаємодіють з конкретними продуктами. Ці дані допоможуть власникам магазинів краще зрозуміти покупців і їхні звички, щоб розробити нові стратегії для збільшення продажів.
