Лідерка білоруської опозиції Світлана Тихановська 3 січня повідомила, що компанія Google видалила рекламу з допитами на камеру білоруських політв’язнів, унаслідок яких вони нібито визнавали свою провину.
Тихановська ще 21 грудня надіслала до Google листа з проханням звернути увагу «на систематичне зловживання режимом та силовими структурами сервісом YouTube» і нагадала, що «примусові свідчення та визнання відповідно до Конвенції ООН проти катувань кваліфікуються як катування». У листі вона навела приклад понад 40 рекламних оголошень з допитами, зокрема прессекретаря оператора зв’язку А1 Миколи Бределєва.
На запит Тихоновської відповів віцепрезидент Google Каран Бхатіа. Він повідомив, що вказану в листі рекламу видалили, а облікові записи, які її публікували, надалі не зможуть розміщувати подібний контент. Він також запропонував організувати зустріч представників Google та офісу Тихановської, щоб «подібні ситуації не повторилися у майбутньому».
