Неофициальное приложение MyEtherWallet всего за неделю вышло на третье место в категории "Финансы" в App Store.

При этом разработчик приложения указывал, что оно "не является официальным", сообщает TechCrunch. 

Поддельный сервис копирует название оригинала – MyEtherWallet – и предлагает пользователям хранить криптовалюту, заплатив почти $5. До этого разработчик Nam Le создал два игровых приложения про боевых панд, но никогда не имел никакого отношения к электронным кошелькам или другим криптовалютным приложениям.

Неофициальное приложение MyEtherWallet позволяло пользователям создавать или импортировать кошельки для хранения криптовалютных активов за пределами бирж. При этом Nam Le, судя по всему, получал контроль над закрытыми ключами для управления кошельками.

"Это не наше приложение! Мы уже заполнили все необходимые заявки и надеемся на помощь сообщества в пресечении этого мошенничества", — говорится в официальном Twitter организации MyEtherWallet.

Пока неясно, каким образом приложению удалось пройти проверку AppStore и пробиться в топ рейтинга. Точное число загрузок фейкового приложения Apple также не называет
