В ответ на статус некой Елены Плотниковой, где говорилось, что она "русская из Донецка (раньше была Украина)", двукратный российский чемпион турниров "Большого шлема" едко заметил: "Лохушка (или лошок), Донецк – это и есть (и всегда останется) Украина, а не то, что ты у себя в профиле написала".
Спустя некоторое время на твит Кафельникова отреагировала и сама Плотникова, опустившись до банальных оскорблений: "Его так сильно били ракеткой по голове, что повредили мозг?"
