Народные депутаты, опрошенные журналистами проекта "Золотой батон", не смогли ответить, когда был создан Европейский Союз.

Так, по мнению депутата от "Народного Фронта" Сергея Высоцкого соглашение было подписано в 1972 году. Аналогичный период назвал мажоритарщик Антон Яценко. Ирина Луценко от БПП не смогла назвать точную дату, однако назвала одну из стран-основоположников и цель изначального создания. По мнению, депутата от ДПП Олега Дмитренко Евросоюз был создан в начале 2000-х годов. Бывший вице-премьер-министр Украины Александр Вилкул также не назвал точной даты, однако отметил, что идеология объединения была сформирована еще в 50-х годах. Также с датами ошибся депутат от "Самопомочи", командир "Донбасса" Павел Кишкар,пишет ZN.ua

Европейский Союз был юридически закреплен Маастрихтским договором в 1992 году на принципах Европейского сообщества. Договор вступил в силу 1 ноября 1993 года. Первый шаг в сторону создания ЕС был сделан в 1951 году, когда Бельгия, Германия, Люксембург, Франция, Италия, Нидерланды подписали договор о создании Европейского объединения угля и стали.
