Президент Зімбабве Роберт Мугабе на тлі глибокої економічної кризи у країні витратив 2 мільйони євро на святкову вечірку на честь свого 93-річчя

Найстаріший глава держави у світі влаштував вечірку для кількох тисяч гостей з правлячої партії у віддаленому від столиці місті Матопос. Вартість свята оцінюють у два мільйони євро. Гостей пригощали 93-кілограмовим тортом у вигляді Африки, оскільки "в Африці його (Мугабе. - Ред.) всі люблять".

Сам Мугабе на свято вдягнув костюм, прикрашений власними зображеннями та партійними кольорами. Його дружина Грейс, яку вважають можливою наступницею президента, мала схоже вбрання.

Утім, після 37 років правління Мугабе не має намірів віддавати владу.

"Люди, які формують свої власні групки, кажуть, що Мугабе має піти. І я питаю себе, куди ж я піду?" - сказав він у промові, що тривала більше години.
