У 2025 році на конкурс World Press Photo надійшло 59 320 фотографій-заявок від 3778 фотографів зі 141 країни.

 Серед переможців у цьому престижному конкурсі у 2025 році — 42 фотографи з 30 країн: вони представляють Бангладеш, Білорусь, Бразилію, Німеччину, Францію, Італію та інші країни.

Після  перемог, які протягом останніх років на цьому конкурсі здобували українські фотографи, у 2025 році серед переможців робіт представників України немає.

 Війні в Україні присвячено роботу німецького фотографа Флоріана Бахмаєра.  У конкурсі World Press Photo перемогла його фотографія шестирічної Ангеліни, яка страждає від панічних атак після того, як їй довелося покинути своє село поблизу Куп’янська. Зараз дівчинка живе зі своєю бабусею у Борщівці, що за 95 кілометрів від міста, а її мама живе і працює в Харкові.

Українська асоціація фотографів відреагувала на рішення World Press Photo відзначити премією росіян. На думку УАПФ, винагороджуючи російських фотографів, конкурс робить видимою позицію агресора і сприяє підміні понять.

«Винагороджуючи російських фотографів, які слугують виразниками державної ідеології РФ, конкурс робить видимою позицію агресора, і таким чином сприяє підміні понять: замість засудження агресора акцентує на співчутті до нього. На нашу думку, таке нагородження не відповідає заявленій меті конкурсу — поєднувати світ важливими історіями, особливо в ситуації загарбницької війни, яку Росія веде проти України вже 11 років», — йдеться в заяві Асоціації.
