18 квітня далекого 2005 року. Юлія тимошенко дає інтерв’ю російському журналу “Профіль” .

На питання, чи погодиться вона на продовження терміну перебування російських військ у Севастополі в обмін на зменшення ціни на газ і нафту, Тимошенко відповіла: "Звичайно, погоджуся". 
"Чому? Тому що дуже важливо сьогодні зробити так, щоб люди жили заможно та щоб у них абсолютно не було ніяких економічних стресів", - сказала вона. 
"Що стосується військ у Севастополі, то завжди можна домовитися про надання послуг однією країною іншій країні на нормальних комерційних умовах. Тут немає нічого поганого", - підкреслювала Тимошенко.
