Вищий суд Австралії визнав, що призначення на посаду віце-прем`єра Барнабі Джойса та чотирьох інших політиків було неправомірним через подвійне громадянство, пише ВВС Україна

"Я поважаю рішення суду", - сказав пан Джойс одразу після оголошення вироку.

Вихід пана Джойса позбавляє уряд абсолютної більшості.

Барнабі Джойс у серпні відмовився від громадянства Нової Зеландії, але натякнув, що планує брати участь у довиборах.

Інші четверо політиків, щодо яких суд ухвалив таке ж рішення, це - Фіона Неш, Малколм Робертс, Лариса Уотерс і Скотт Ладлам. Їх раніше обрали до Сенату.

Історія з подвійним громадянством захопила Австралію у липні, десятки депутатів були змушені публічно роз'яснити свій статус.
