Слово brexit, що означає вихід Великої Британії із Євросоюзу, з'явилося в Оксфордському словнику англійської мови
 

Лексикографи відзначають, що після своєї появи слово поширювалося з неймовірною швидкістю.

У словнику зазначається, що  "брексіт" – "[передбачуваний] вихід Великої Британії з Європейського союзу і політичні процеси, які асоціюються з ним. Іноді вживається для позначення референдуму, проведеного у Великій Британії 23 червня 2016 року, на якому більшість тих, хто голосував, вибрали вихід з ЄС".

Крім того, в словник включено утворене за тією самою моделлю слово "грексіт", що означає потенційний вихід Греції з єврозони.

Серед інших слів, включених в словник за останній час, glam-ma, що позначає "гламурну" літню жінку, і verklempt – запозичене з ідиш слово, яке означає переповненість емоціями.
