В эфире немецкого телеканала ARD был показан документальный фильм под названием "Проданный футбол", в преддверии выборов президента ФИФА в нем содержатся обвинения в коррупции в адрес действующего главы организации Зеппа Блаттера и показана мрачная картина футбольного мира под руководством функционера. Авторы фильма сравнивают принятую систему отношений ФИФА с сюжетом книги Марио Пьюзо "Крестный отец",пишет Сегодня

В частности, в очередной раз утверждается, что Россия и Катар незаконно получили право проведения чемпионатов мира 2018 и 2022 года соответственно, приводятся многочисленные факты коррупции со стороны Блаттера, а также ставятся под сомнение методы расследования дела о назначении стран-хозяек мировых первенств.

Также в документальной картине затронута тема нарушения прав трудящихся в России и Катаре, занятых на строительстве объектов к чемпионатам мира. Как отмечается, в частности, говорится о "бесчеловечных условиях рабочих" на стройках.
