Британская телерадиовещательная корпорация (BBC) планирует сократить тысячу рабочих мест в этом году.

Об этом сообщил генеральный директор корпорации Тони Холл.

Масштабное сокращение нужно, по словам топ-менеджера, чтобы сэкономить около 50 млн фунтов стерлингов. В целом ВВС стремится сэкономить около 150 млн фунтов.

Потребность в сокращении вызвана неожиданным ростом количества семей, отказавшихся от уплаты лицензии на право просмотра телевидения.
