Президент Сирии Башар Асад в интервью телеканалу NPO2 заявил, что западные страны затягивают войну в Сирии с целью осуществления смены власти в стране.

«Проблема заключается в том, что они до сих пор оказывают им поддержку на ежедневной основе, поскольку хотят, чтобы решением, которое они называют политическим решением, стала смена власти в стране. Поэтому все это будет затягиваться», — сказал он.

Президент также саркастически прокомментировал смягчение позиции западных лидеров относительно его смещения, сказав, что он «уже было собирал свои вещи и планировал уезжать», но теперь «может остаться».
