Напередодні Дня пам'яті та примирення і Дня перемоги над нацизмом розпочав роботу сайт "Поле пам'яті". Про це повідомляє Інститут національної пам'яті.

Сайт дає можливість кожному вшанувати пам'ять родича або близьку людину, якої торкнулася Друга світова війна. На ньому можна "висадити" червоний мак з іменем та інформацією про людину, яка загинула на війні, брала участь у бойових діях, працювала в тилу або пережила окупацію. Також можна поділитися інформацією про людину через соціальні мережі,пише Gazeta.ua

Війна торкнулась практично кожної української родини. Загинули близько 4 млн військових та більше 5 млн мирних мешканців, ще 2 млн людей було вивезено на примусові роботи до Третього Рейху. Було зруйновано 28,7 тис. населених пунктів, мільйони людей залишилися без даху над головою.

Нагадаємо, червоний мак – це традиційний для України символ скорботи. Мак оспівується у народних думах, як символ пролитої козацької крові. Водночас мак – це прийнята в Європі емблема пам'яті жертв Першої та Другої світових війн. Саме тому цю квітку було обрано для вшанування пам'яті українців, які загинули під час Другої світової війни.
