У Римі (Італія) в неділю, 11 жовтня, відбулося урочисте відкриття пам'ятника князю київському Володимиру Великому. Про це йдеться в повідомленні посольства України у Ватикані у Facebook.

"Сьогодні в Римі на території комплексу Свята Софія відкрито пам'ятник князю Київському Володимиру Великому, хрестителю Київської Русі-України", - зазначили в дипустанові.

Зазначимо, що у 2015 р. виповнюється 1000 років від дня смерті князя Володимира Великого. У лютому Президент України Петро Порошенко підписав указ про вшанування пам'яті князя київського Володимира Великого - "творця середньовічного європейської держави Руси-України у зв'язку з 1000-річчям його упокоєння".

Нагадаємо, 28 липня в Україні відзначили День Хрещення Русі. Як відомо, Хрещення Русі вважається процесом прийняття і поширення християнства на Русі, ключовою подією якого є масове хрещення в 988 р. жителів Києва, а потім інших міст держави князем Володимиром I Святославичем. У результаті цього християнство стало основною релігією на Русі.

Свята Софія - християнський греко-католицький собор в Римі, побудований в кінці 1960-х рр. патріархом Йосифом Сліпим. Собор є частиною комплексу Українського католицького університету імені святого Климента в Римі.
