Влада країни побоюється, що поширення недостовірної інформації в інтернеті може вплинути на результат парламентських виборів, які пройдуть в жовтні 2017 року.

У чеському уряді заявляють, що в країні діють десятки сайтів, що поширюють фейкові новини і конспірологічні теорії. За припущенням влади, ці сайти пов'язані з Кремлем, хоча у Чехії визнають, що довести цей зв'язок непросто.

Управління по боротьбі з фейковими новинами стане частиною відкритого нещодавно Центру по боротьбі з тероризмом і гібридними загрозами. Він почне роботу 1 січня, його штат складе 20 осіб.
