13 серпня Барак Обама у трьох твітах процитував Нельсона Манделу:

"Ніхто не народжується з ненавистю до іншої людини через колір шкіри, походження чи релігію. Люди вчаться ненавидіти, і якщо вони можуть навчитися ненавидіти, потрібно намагатися вчити їх любові, бо любов набагато ближча людському серцю". 

Перший твіт зібрав рекордну кількість уподобань за всю історію соціальної мережі - 2,9 млн.

Ці слова екс-президент США написав у відповідь на зіткнення між ультраправими та їхніми противниками в місті Шарлотсвіль, штат Вірджинія.
