Претендент на кандидата у президенти США від Республіканської партії Дональд Трамп заручився підтримкою американського політтехнолога Пола Джона Манафорта, який раніше консультував політичну кампанію екс-президента України Віктора Януковича і Партії регіонів

Про це повідомляє depo.ua з посиланням на The New York Times.

Видання зазначає, що Трамп звернувся за допомогою до Манафорта, щоб здобути підтримку делегатів на Республіканському з’їзді у Клівленді влітку, де назвуть ім'я офіційного кандидата республіканців на президентських виборах.

Як відомо, Джон Манафорт у 1976 році працював консультантом у президентській кампанії Джеральда Форда в його протистоянні з Рональдом Рейганом.

У 1980 році був консультантом у кампанії Рейгана. У 1988 і 1996 році відзначився у штабах Джорджа Буша і Боба Доула.

Крім того, Манафорт консультував Партію регіонів, співпрацював із олігархом Рінатом Ахметовим і його холдингом СКМ, а також був старшим радником екс-президента України Віктора Януковича.

Президентські вибори у США відбудуться 8 листопада 2016 року.
