Президент США Дональд Трамп оголосив про помилування і пом'якшення вироків 29 людям, включаючи ексглаву своєї виборчої кампанії Пола Манафорта, засудженого за махінації, повідомляє сайт Білого дому

"Президент Дональд Трамп помилував 26 осіб і частково або повністю пом'якшив вироки ще 3 особам".

Повідомляється, що Манафорт уже провів у в'язниці 2 роки, в тому числі деякий час в одиночній камері. Відзначається, що "в результаті того, кричущого зловживання з боку прокуратури Манафорт пережив роки несправедливого поводження і став однією з найяскравіших жертв… можливо, найбільшою полювання на відьом в американській історії".

Також Трамп помилував батька свого зятя Чарльза Кушнера, засудженого у 2006 році за незаконні внески в передвиборну кампанію і ухиляння від сплати податків.

Серед помилуваних і колишній радник Трампа Роджер Стоун, якого звинувачували в перешкоджанні розслідуванню, тиску на свідків і неправдивих свідченнях в рамках справи про втручання Росії у вибори президента США 2016 року.

22 грудня Трамп помилував 15 людей і частково або повністю пом'якшив вироки ще 5 осіб. Серед помилуваних і засуджені з "російської справи".
