Мартін Шульц заявив, що має намір залишитися лідером Соціал-демократичної партії Німеччини, навіть якщо він не зможе перемогти свою суперницю Ангелу Меркель на федеральних виборах 24 вересня.

Про це Шульц заявив у вівторок, 8 серпня, у Берліні, повідомляє Європейська правда із посиланням на Politico.eu.

"Я, очевидно, виставлю свою кандидатру на переобрання на наступному партійному з'їзді", - заявив Шульц на одному із заходів, організованого німецькою медіагрупою у Берліні.

"СДПН може приймати більш довгі терміни для своїх голів", - сказав він.

"Коментарі Шульца вказують на те, що він принаймні припускає можливість поразки у вересні, попри часті публічні нагадування своїх партійних колег про те, що кампанія тільки почалася серйозно і що багато виборців досі не визначилися", - зазначає Politico.eu.

Раніше повідомлялося, що німці віддають перевагу Ангелі Меркель на посаді канцлера, а не Мартіну Шульцу, підтримка якого впала нижче 30%.
