Вице-канцлер Германии Зигмар Габриэль может уже в пятницу занять должность главы МИД ФРГ, пишет в среду немецкая газета Sddeutsche Zeitung.

Таким образом, он сменит на этом посту Франка-Вальтера Штайнмайера, претендующего на должность президента страны.

Выборы президента Германии состоятся 12 февраля 2017 года.

Позднее, 24 сентября 2017 года, пройдут выборы в бундестаг, по итогам которых будет сформировано правительство.

Федеральный президент является в Германии главой государства, однако функции, которые он исполняет, носят репрезентативный характер. Согласно Основному закону ФРГ, президент представляет страну в международных отношениях. В частности, именно он от имени Германии совершает государственные визиты, заключает договоры с иностранными державами, принимает верительные грамоты у послов и т.д. Реальное управление страной находится в ФРГ в руках канцлера и правительства.
