Парламентська асамблея Ради Європи офіційно обрала Педро Аграмунта на посаду свого президента на річний термін.

Про це повідомляє зі Страсбурга кореспондент "Європейської правди".

Аграмунт був президентом асамблеї в 2016 році. Наприкінці року піднімалося питання про те, щоби завадити його обранню на другий рік через претензії до його діяльності, однак ця ідея не знайшла достатньої підтримки

Переобрання Аграмунта провели, уникнувши голосування – за регламентом асамблеї, перезатвердження президента проводиться автоматично, якщо на виборах президента є лише одна кандидатура. Жоден інший член асамблеї не висунув свою кандидатуру.

"Я зроблю все, щоби гідним чином керувати ПАРЄ попри всі складнощі, з якими стикається асамблея", - заявив Аграмунт.

Як повідомляла "Європейська правда", президент ПАРЄ протягом минулого року доклав зусиль для зняття санкції з Російської Федерації, але не досяг успіху. Також він відомий тим, що перервав багаторічну традицію спілкування з пресою в Страсбурзі.
