Прем’єр-міністр Ісландії Сігмундур Гуннлаугссон подав у відставку після скандалу з панамськими офшорами.

Про це повідомив міністр сільського і рибного господарства Сігурдур Інгі Йохансон, передає видання Grapevine.

Його крок все ще потребує схвалення президента і партії Незалежності, яка входить до правлячої коаліції.

Гуннлаугссон продовжить очолювати Прогресивну партію, а Сігурдур Інгі буде виконувати обов’язки прем’єра.

За словами міністра, вони хочуть продовжувати партнерство з партією Незалежності і не рекомендуватимуть дострокових виборів.

Раніше Гуннлаугссон звернувся до президента з проханням розпуску парламенту, однак той заявив, що поки не готовий на цей крок.

Як повідомлялося, Гуннлаугссон та його дружина стали одними з фігурантів розслідування міжнародних журналістів щодо  іменитих власників великих офшорів.

Напередодні тисячі ісландців вийшли на протести з вимогою відставки прем'єр-міністра країни.

Гуннлаугссон раніше  відмовився подавати у відставку через причетність до офшорної компанії.
