Июнь – так называемый "прайд-месяц", когда по всему миру проходят акции с требованиями гендерного и сексуального равенства.

Трюдо отметил, что "это великий день для Канады и один из важных этапов, которые страна прошла за последние годы", цитирует премьера СВС. Он подчеркнул, что за то, чтобы этот день настал, боролось много людей.

Эта акция – первая в истории Канады.

В Киеве также запланирована акция ЛГБТ и активистов – 12 мая в столице пройдет "Марш равенства". Угрозу для его участников представляют националисты. Спикер "Правого сектора" Артем Скоропадский заявил, что мирная акция за права человека "превратится в кровавую кашу", А движение ОУН опубликовало на своем сайте призыв к гражданам Украины выйти на улицы 12 июня и помешать "распространению содомитской заразы".

В 2015 году перед гей-парадом в Киеве "Правый сектор" заявлял, что не допустит проведения мероприятия. Оно все-таки состоялось, но вновь сопровождалось столкновениями между участниками и противниками марша.
