Консервативний Християнсько-демократичний союз канцлера Німеччини Ангели Меркель обійшов соціал-демократів (СДПН) на місцевих виборах у федеральній землі Шлезвіг-Гольштейн

ХДС отримав близько 32% голосів, СДПН, які були правлячою партією в регіоні з 2012 року, близько 27% голосів. До місцевого парламенту також потрапили "Зелені", Вільна демократична партію і вперше правопопулістська "Альтернатива для Німеччини".
До земельного парламенту проходить також і партія данської нацменшини - Союз виборців Південного Шлезвігу. В той же час, до парламенту Шлезвіг-Гольстейну не пройшли "Ліві", а також "Піратська партія".
Вибори в Шлезвіг-Гольштейні вважаються важливою перевіркою настроїв виборців з огляду на вересневі вибори до Бундестагу.
14 травня відбудуться вибори до парламенту найбільшої за чисельністю населення федеральної землі Північний Рейн - Вестфалія.
