Президент США Барак Обама планирует после окончания срока полномочий остаться в Вашингтоне еще на несколько лет, чтобы его младшая дочь Саша могла закончить школу. Об этом он заявил во время визита в Милуоки, пишет The Washington Post.

Президент пообедал в одном из ресторанов в компании четырех женщин и мужчины, которые ранее написали ему письмо по поводу закона о доступном медобслуживании, инициатором которого он стал. Они разговаривали о погоде и о Среднем Западе.

Одна из женщин спросила Обаму о Гавайях, где он родился. «Гавайи для меня родной очаг», — ответил президент, добавив, что и Чикаго его настоящий дом. Он напомнил, что его жена Мишель родом оттуда.

Кто-то из участников обеда спросил президента, где он и его семья будут жить, после того как срок президентских полномочий закончится.

«Мы собираемся остаться на пару лет, чтобы Саша могла закончить школу», — сказал Обама, пояснив, что переводить ее в середине срока обучения в другое место было бы «слишком жестко».

Выборы президента США пройдут 8 ноября. Нынешний президент Барак Обама на третий срок выдвигаться не может, срок его полномочий завершится в январе 2017 года.

Барак и Мишель Обама поженились в 1992 году. Они воспитывают двух дочерей, 17-летнюю Малию и 14-летнюю Сашу. Обе девочки учатся в частной школе Sidwell Friends в Вашингтоне, федеральный округ Колумбия.
