Во вторник, 3 февраля, принял присягу новый президент Италии Серджио Маттарелла, избранный четыре дня назад.

"Борьба с мафией и коррупцией является абсолютным приоритетом. Коррупция достигла уровня, который является абсолютно неприемлемым. Она поглощает ресурсы, которые могли бы идти на пользу нашим гражданам", - заявил во время церемонии Маттарелла, передает Новое время

Кроме того, новый итальянский президент в своей речи упомянул рекордную нелегальную миграцию в стране. "Войны, вражда, политические, этнические гонения, бедность и голод создают огромное количество беженцев. Это серьезная и болезненная гуманитарная катастрофа. Европа должна продемонстрировать больше внимания, больше стремления помочь, больше солидарности", - сказал Маттарелла.

Отметим, президент - выходец из Сицилии - принял присягу перед депутатами, избравшими его несколько дней назад.

Напомним, итальянские законодатели с четвертой попытки избрали нового преиздента Италии, 73-летнего судью Конституционного суда Серджио Маттарелла.

14 января итальянский президент 89-летний Джорджо Наполитано подал в отставку. Джорджо Наполитано возглавлял Италию с 2006 года. После переизбрания его полномочия истекали в 2020 году. Однако преклонный возраст и состояние здоровья стали причиной отставки.
