Після публічної суперечки президента України Володимира Зеленського, американського лідера Дональда Трампа і віцепрезидента США Джей Ді Венса пояс боксера Олександра Усика залишився лежати в Овальному кабінеті.

Про це пише американський журналіст і автор книги The Showman: Inside the invasion that shook the world and made a leader of Volodymyr Zelensky (Шоумен: Погляд зсередини на вторгнення, що потрясло світ і зробило з Володимира Зеленського лідера) Саймон Шустер для Time Exclusive.

Він нагадав, що Зеленський привіз один із поясів об'єднаного чемпіона світу в суперважкій вазі Олександра Усика до Білого дому як подарунок Трампу. Президент України поклав пояс на бічний столик біля правого ліктя і планував вручити його на брифінгу.

Під час інтерв'ю Шустер запитав у Зеленського про долю цього пояса, чи вдалося подарувати його Трампу, чи його повернули назад в Україну. Український лідер відповів журналісту, що не знає, де зараз пояс, і додав, що, «можливо, він усе ще там».

Як пише Шустер, у метушні, що виникла після суперечки, Володимир Зеленський залишив пояс Усика на столику поруч із диваном. Пізніше того ж дня, коли українська делегація залишила Білий дім, один зі співробітників знайшов його і переніс в особисту їдальню Трампа. Він знаходиться там досі, поруч з іншими сувенірами, як нагадування про провалену дипломатію, резюмував Саймон Шустер.
