Прем’єрка Британії Тереза Мей пригрозила незгодним з її планом щодо Brexit депутатам-консерваторам достроковими виборами, якщо вони не підтримають її план щодо митних правил після виходу країни з ЄС.

Про це повідомляє Єаропейська правда із посиланням на Times.

Депутати отримали таке попередження за декілька хвилин до ключового голосування у палаті громад щодо виходу Британії з митного союзу з ЄС після Brexit. У разі провалу відповідного законопроекту прибічники Мей пригрозили голосування за вотум недовіри, що могло б привести до дострокових виборів.

"Нам сказали, що ми будемо відповідальні за нові вибори і Джеремі Корбіна на Даунінг стріт, 10 (резиденція британського прем’єра – ред.). Це була жахлива поведінка. Абсолютно ганебна" - розповів один з депутатів.

Така стратегія дозволила Мей отримати підтримку більшості парламентарів і випередити опонентів на шість голосів. В той же час 12 консерваторів так і залишилися в опозиції до прем’єрки.

Нагадаємо, прем'єрка Британії Тереза Мей оприлюднила свої пропозиції щодо майбутніх відносин з ЄС після виходу з блоку.

Пропозиції серед іншого передбачають укладення з ЄС Угоди про асоціацію на зразок тієї, що діє між Євросоюзом і Україною. Мей налаштована на більш м’який Brexit зі збереженням тісних економічних зв’язків з ЄС. В той же час вона виключила збереження Британії у митному союзі з ЄС.
