Компанія Meta викрила китайську мережу, що просувала фейкового біолога нібито з Швейцарії «Вілсона Едвардса», який критикував розслідування про походження COVID-19 у Китаї. Про це повідомило Суспільне з посиланням на звіт Meta.

Meta виявила 524 акаунти, 20 сторінок і чотири групи у Facebook, а також 86 акаунтів в Instagram, які поширювали заяви «Вілсона Едвардса». Їхніми адміністраторами були працівники компанії в китайській провінції Сичуань. Щоб приховати зв’язок фейкового вченого з Китаєм, адміністратори використовували VPN. Крім того, за даними Meta, фото «біолога» було згенеровано за допомогою штучного інтелекту.
