Канцлер Німеччини Ангела Меркель стала офіційним кандидатом на цю ж посаду від партій "Християнсько-демократичний союз" (ХДС) і "Християнсько-соціальний союз" (ХСС).

Меркель стала спільним кандидатом у канцлери від правлячої коаліції ФРН.

Сьогодні голова ХСС прем'єр-міністр Баварії Хорст Зеєхофер і чинний канцлер представлять спільну передвиборчу стратегію.

Вибори в бундестаг Німеччини відбудуться у вересні. Після цього в країні буде сформовано новий уряд і обраний канцлер Німеччини.
