Марина Порошенко, Благодійний Фонд Порошенка та Офіс Дружини Президента України долучилися до міжнародної акції «Lots of Socks» у рамках Всесвітнього дня людини з синдромом Дауна, який відзначається 21 березня.
Вперше акція відбулася у 2013 році за ініціативи міжнародної організації Down Syndrome International. Мета цього руху – привернути увагу суспільства до людей із синдромом Дауна та висловити їм свою толерантність і підтримку. У цей день люди в усьому світі вдягають різнокольорові розпаровані шкарпетки як символ інакшості. Це допомагає відчути себе не таким, як усі, та зрозуміти, що значить жити під пильними і часто недобрими поглядами оточуючих.
Марина Порошенко зауважила: «Наша команда щодня працює над тим, аби «сонячні» діти, як і всі діти з особливими потребами в Україні, відчували себе рівноправними членами суспільства та були захищеними і щасливими. Власним прикладом ми демонструємо, що толерантність і любов до ближнього – це ті основоположні цінності, які мають єднати український народ.
