Так, під час його зустрічі з держсекретарем США Рексом Тіллерсоном главі МЗС Росії не сподобалися методи роботи американських журналістів, які намагалися домогтися від нього коментарів, після чого він, замість відповіді на поставлені питання, вирішив повчити їх манерам, пише Новое время

Зокрема, одна з представниць ЗМІ запитала Лаврова, чи правда, що він підтримує уряд Сирії, і, як він прокоментує "вчорашні заяви Білого дому", після чого з таким же питанням звернулася ще одна її колега.

"Хто вас виховував? Хто вчив вас манерам?" - відреагував у відповідь російський міністр, так і не відповівши на поставлені питання.

Варто зазначити, що Лавров відомий своєю аж ніяк не дипломатичною поведінкою, а, часом, і відвертим хамством.

Так, 11 серпня 2015 року він під час підсумкової прес-конференції після переговорів з міністром закордонних справ Саудівської Аравії Адель аль-Джубейром дозволив собі грубий вираз з нецензурним словом на адресу присутніх.

"Дебіли, б*дь...", - сказав собі під ніс російський дипломат.

Крім того, в грудні 2016 року на полях міністерського засідання ОБСЄ Лавров звернувся по-англійськи до оператора, який опинилася поруч з ним, з питанням: "Чого тобі треба?" (What do you want?), після чого, роздратований відсутністю бажаної реакції, вже по-російськи, назвав того "дебілом".
