Вирішальну роль у голосуванні відіграв штат Каліфорнія. Там виборники віддали 55 голосів Байдену.

Загалом демократ отримав 306 голосів проти 232 за чинного президента Дональда Трампа.

Підтримали колишнього віцепрезидента також у штатах Арізона, Джорджія, Мічиган, Невада, Пенсильванія та Вісконсин, де раніше Трамп вимагав перерахувати голоси.

Разом із Байденом на посаду вступить Камала Гарріс, яка займе посаду віцепрезидента.
