Кандидат на пост мэра аргентинского города Пуэрто-Игуасу Мануэль Альварес скончался от инфаркта прямо во время предвыборных дебатов в здании местной школы на глазах сотен учеников, пишет РИА Новости.

По данным канала NTN24, Альварес почувствовал себя плохо и успел извиниться перед присутствующими за то, что вынужден покинуть мероприятие, но выйти из помещения уже не успел. К упавшему 57-летнему кандидату на помощь бросился врач, однако в создание его привести уже не удалось.

В машине скорой помощи Альвареса настиг второй инфаркт, в результате которого он скончался по прибытии в больницу. На дебатах присутствовали примерно 300 молодых людей, многим из которых в ближайшее воскресенье предстоит голосовать в первый раз.

В Аргентине 25 октября пройдут всеобщие выборы, в ходе которых избирателям предстоит выбрать нового президента страны, вице-президента, сенаторов, депутатов и членов муниципальных органов власти.
