Журналіст австрійського телеканалу ORF Армін Вольф (Armin Wolf) поділився деталями інтерв’ю з президентом Росії, яке вийшло в ефір 4 червня. Кореспондент назвав Володимира Путіна «чемпіоном світу з переведення теми».
 

«Путін — це надзвичайно хитрий співрозмовник… Його відповіді дуже широкі і він постійно акцентує на перебиваннях. Політики рідко це роблять. Вони або дозволяють перервати себе, або ігнорують і продовжують говорити. Але Путін акцентував на кожному переривані і після третього чи четвертого зауваження інтерв'юер виглядає грубо або не зацікавленим у відповідях. Він також часто відповідає на питання питанням — він чемпіоном світу в переведення теми (Whataboutism). Ви запитуєте його про корупцію в Росії, а він починає обговорювати корупцію в Україні», — сказав Армін виданню Politico, передає Media Sapiens

Постійні зміни теми стали однією з причин, чому журналіст назвав це інтерв’ю найважчим у кар’єрі. Також ускладнювало розмову те, що вона проходила у Кремлі і будь-які перебивання розмови сприймалися, як «образа його величності» (lèse-majesté). Крім того, у журналіста попросили завчасно список основних питань, а у день запису інтерв’ю Путін змусив знімальну групу чекати чотири години.

На підготовку до розмови журналіст витратив п’ять днів: «Я переглянув усі доступні інтерв’ю з Путіним  за кілька останніх років. Це було дуже корисно, тому що я зрозумів, як він реагує під час розмови. Він саме так і реагував під час нашого інтерв’ю. Також я багато спілкувався з російськими експертами та прочитав іншу додаткову літературу».

Він каже, що отримав гарну реакцію на саме інтерв’ю, але сподівався, що «фабрики тролів працюватимуть активніше».
