Fox News стала єдиною американською компанією, яка опублікувала невідредаговане відео, на якому знято, як  бойовики «Ісламської держави» спалили живцем полоненого йорданського пілота Муаза Юсефа аль-Касасба.  Він був збитий терористами над сирійським містом Ракка в грудні 2014 року,пише Media Sapiens

На 22-хвилинному відео, яке поширили ісламісти, видно, як льотчика облили бензином, посадили в клітку і підпалили.

Твіттер-акаунти, які пов’язують з підтримкою «Ісламської держави», поширюють це відео, посилаючись на Fox News.

Раніше ні Fox News, ні інші ЗМІ не оприлюднювали відеозаписи злочинів «Ісламської держави». Вони публікували лише окремі кадри з них, на яких не зображено безпосереднього самого акту вбивства.

У заяві мережі йдеться: «Після ретельного обговорення, ми вирішили, що можливість читачам Fox News  побачити на власні очі жорстокість ISIS в даному разі важливіше, ніж занепокоєність щодо надто вражаючої природи цього відео. Користувачі можуть самі обрати, дивитись чи не дивитись такий контент». 

Прихильники ISIS діляться цим відео у Твіттері, зазначаючи, що це той сайт, звідки відео не буде видалено – оскільки це американська телекомпанія.

 YouTube видалив відео через кілька годин після його публікації, а представник Facebook зазначив, що якщо хтось буде ділитись відео, такі посилання будуть видалені.

Фахівці у галузі  боротьби з тероризмом розкритикували рішення Fox News. Малькольм Ненсе, експерт з контр-тероризму, сказав у коментарі Guardian, що таким чином ЗМІ поширює саме те, чого хоче «Ісламська держава».

 «Вся цінність терору саме в тому, щоб використовувати медіа для поширення страху», - каже він.  Крім того, він наголошує, що масове оприлюднення відео ставить під загрозу долю інших полонених.

«Fox News без перебільшення працюють на Аль-Каїду та медіа підрозділ ISIS», - додає Малькольм Ненсе.
