На момент бесіди, яка, за словами знайомого дівчини, тривала 20 хвилин, Флінн займав посаду директора розвідувального управління міністерства оборони США.

Сама студентка займалася вивченням історії спецслужб Росії.

Офіційний представник Флінна назвав цю бесіду випадковістю.
